DIPLOMA OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE

The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is the industry-flagship course for higher-level roles in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector. This nationally recognised qualification prepares you to work in a range of early childhood settings with children up to five years of age. You will learn about the about the intellectual, social, emotional, physical and educational needs of children, how to support their rights and safety, and the well-being of infants. Be qualified to supervise staff and volunteers and be equipped with necessary skills to plan, implement and manage programs in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and duty of care requirements. Learn from qualified early childhood educators with current skills, knowledge and strong links to industry and gain the skills to work in a growing industry with great career opportunities.

The Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care can lead to a rewarding career as a: - Family Day Care Educator in long day care, child care centres, occasional care - Assistant Educator - Supervisory roles in long day care, child care centres, occasional care This qualification is suitable for an Australian trainee-ship pathway.

A minimum of 240 hours of work placement is required to be completed in a licensed and regulated child care environment with children aged 0-5 years. Your work placement will be arranged for you in your geographic area, however if you currently work in a regulated childcare you can complete you work placement in this setting.


CERTIFICATE IV IN EDUCATION SUPPORT

Helping people learn is what you love to do. Take your career in education support to the next level or start on your teaching journey with the Certificate IV in Education Support. This nationally recognised qualification (which is also available as an Australian traineeship pathway) is suited to education support workers in public and private schools, as well as independent schools and community education centres. You will learn to support your students in mathematics and literacy, provide support to students with autism spectrum disorder and support the learning of responsible behaviour. DIPLOMA OF SCHOOL AGE EDUCATION AND CARE

If you have been working in after-school and vacation childcare and are ready to move into a more senior role, the Diploma of School Age Education and Care can get you there. In this nationally recognised qualification you will learn to plan, implement and manage programs that address regulatory and duty of care requirements. You will also supervise volunteers and other staff. BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (PRIMARY)


Inspire our next generation in this professional qualification to teach in a primary school with children aged five to 12 years. Gain extensive work-based placements (totalling 560 hours) at schools throughout this four-year program, with school placements commencing in your first year. These begin with observing and interacting with small groups of primary school students, and later expand to include patterns of classroom interaction, teacher-developed curriculum materials and whole-school activities. When you undertake professional experience in fourth year, you will be fully competent to teach without close supervision. Throughout your studies you will take generalist units of study in education and professional studies, along with units in the sciences, social sciences and humanities, offered by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Science. Students who demonstrate high achievement in mathematics through secondary school or the first-year mathematics content may also elect to undertake a specialisation study pathway in mathematics.

About combined degrees: Most of our undergraduate programs result in combined degrees, which means you’ll receive a Bachelor of Education AND either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science, depending on your teaching areas.

Bachelor of Education (Secondary: Human Movement and Health Education) (BEd) Master of Teaching (Secondary Education)

For those with a bachelor’s degree who want to teach in high school (for example, business studies, science, mathematics, English, history or languages).


Master of Teaching (Health and Physical Education) For those with a relevant bachelor's degree who want to teach in the area of human movement, health and physical education at the high-school level.


Master of Teaching (School Counselling) This course prepares you to become a school counsellor or school psychologist while also qualifying you to teach in one subject area of the high-school curriculum.
